i thought i'd started off to encourage comments, ideas, sharing of your/other videos, links to website, other blogs, etc.. presentation and discussion on choreographic intentions are also encouraged. This particular piece I directed and presented last February is only the 'tip of the iceberg' of what I envision, as there are obvious challenges in low-budget art creation, dancer's injuries and other commitments, etc. But nevertheless, it's a development, however small... I started both Contact Improvisation and Tango in 1996 and Butoh only in 2001, so it might take me a few more years to really integrate the 3. A major challenge is also finding dancers with those 3 skills: surprisingly i discover Aikido's background of some Tango dancers and i guess it is as close one can get to Butoh....in the dance world. The dancers in the video have either a background in released based technique or contact. I've sprinkled a bit of Tango and Butoh. I love them dearly as they really try and made an effort. I have had no inspiration to include tango dancers, but maybe in the future, who knows...
This blog was created to group together interesting videos that show Tango from a different angle and/or with other influences...if you prefer, contaminated! I was amazed at the amount of clips named 'Tango Fusion', so that is why I included the word 'hybrid'. If you have a clip that you think would suit this video blog, please let me know: adriana@adagioconbrio.co.uk
